I met KH at an AIDS benefit in Soho in 1988. BD Wong sang, KH stayed in the entry hall autographing his new posters. I brought him some food from inside and a glass of water, he seemed to shy to be with "socialites". I used to see him on the street a lot before and afterwards. He gave me a dozen posters, and remembered me after the benefit. I used to dance at the World on Thursday nights (Rock and Roll Fag Bar) and half the guys looked like me -- that is to say plain white canvas tennis shoes, white tee, door key on a shoelace around the neck, glasses, backward baseball cap and an Astor Place Haircut. Why? Because we wanted to be Keith!
